Statement

Architecture has always been in my life, even when I did not know it.  In high school, I took many engineering courses to expose myself to structure and the math side of design.  I felt that there was something missing in my education and that my dream career needed graphic design, structures and science.  Therefore, in college I chose to study and follow architecture, which opened my eyes to the endless possibilities of design.

Some would call the mental tools of an architect precise, organized and articulated.  I strive to practice these words in my projects and thinking process.  The idea must first be clear to the thinker and then communicated to the employer and client.  I hope to bring a beneficial and organized work ethic to a firm that strives for efficiency, safety and ethically sound goals.

The history of a city is important to its inhabitants.  Some people do not think they care about it, but the history has helped shape everything about that location.  The buildings that are built and the culture that is manifested creates a unique environment that affects everything in the city.  Historic preservation is important to me, as it is a means to study and link the various factors that created the unique environment and feel of the city.  If it is destroyed, the culture and previous lifestyles are nearly impossible to study and help others appreciate all that was offered.

While the past is important to me, the future lies in greener and more sustainable buildings.  These buildings must be cost efficient to create and they must be helpful rather than harmful to the environment.  I feel that the environment is highly neglected since we as humans have not made it a priority to sustain.  Ethically this is a dilemma to me and I hope to work with other individuals that wish to create a brighter future for the next generation.

I am very goal oriented and wish to help with architectural design, graphic design or Revit construction documents.  My long term goals include getting my license for architecture and becoming LEED certified.
